Raritan Introduces Industry’s First 64-port KVM-over-IP Switch

Company unveils two new dominion KVM-over-IP Models and software for enhanced remote and ‘at-the-rack’ management performance.

Somerset, NJ (PRWEB) June 8, 2006

Raritan – a leading provider of solutions to simplify IT operations – today added two new models to its Dominion® Series KVM-over-IP product line and new software to enhance remote server management performance. Supporting 64 servers, Raritan’s new Dominion KX464 is the industry’s highest port density KVM-over-IP switch.

The Dominion KX464 – which supports one local and four remote users – also provides dual power supplies with automatic failover and dual LAN ports for high reliability and availability. Raritan’s new economical 32-port KX132, which supports one local and one remote user, is the lowest price per port switch in the Dominion KX line

The high-port densities of the two new switches also make them the most cost-effective and scalable KVM-over-IP solutions in the market. By managing more servers per switch, companies can save by reducing the number of switches, IP addresses and network drops. Installation and maintenance costs – as well as power consumption, cooling and cabling – are also reduced.

Both models feature Raritan’s Virtual KVM Desktop, a new level of KVM-over-IP access and control that provides a connection to a target server virtually indistinguishable from a direct “at-the-rack” connection. The new switches also come with Raritan’s Universal KVM Client™, which enables administrators to access the Dominion Series switches through the industry’s widest range of browsers and operating systems. Both models are CommandCenter® Secure Gateway ready, so that multiple Dominion switches – and connected servers – can be managed from one dashboard.

Dominion KX Software Release 1.4

Designed to support administrators, who spend hours at a time managing servers, the new software release for the Dominion KX takes KVM-over-IP to a new level of video quality and responsiveness – delivering analog-like video performance with IP-based anytime, anywhere access and control.

The new software features automatic color calibration, which optimizes the screen display to provide vivid, life-like colors to enhance productivity and reduce bandwidth usage. It also provides faster video response through configurable video processing for today’s high-speed networks, as well as lower speed access over the Internet or via modem. In addition, Intelligent Mouse Synchronization eliminates the time-consuming task of adjusting manually the mouse motion and mouse acceleration settings for target Windows servers.

Release 1.4’s new SNMP management capability provides auditing and compliance information on important system events, administration changes, security alerts and user access. Dominion KXs with release 1.4 are fully integrated with the CommandCenter Secure Gateway, as well as the CommandCenter NOC – Raritan’s IT health monitoring appliance.

Dominion software release 1.4 is available on the new Dominion KX464 and KX132 switches, as well as Dominion KX 16, 32 and 64-port models. Existing Dominion KX customers can upgrade free of charge to release 1.4 by downloading the new firmware from Raritan’s Web site.

“Our goal is to deliver cost-effective and secure KVM-over-IP solutions that provide a remote management experience virtually indistinguishable from the one at the rack,” said Richard Dominach, Raritan Senior Product Manager. “With our expanding Dominion KX product line, administrative tasks, such as troubleshooting, BIOS changes and rebooting, can be performed productively – anytime, anywhere leveraging today’s ubiquitous IP access. The new Dominion KX models and software release 1.4 provide enhanced manageability, reliability, security, compliance and auditing for the most demanding enterprise environments.”

Pricing and Availability

The new Dominion KX models with software release 1.4 are available worldwide through Raritan’s extensive distribution channels. The Dominion KX464, a 2U full-width, rack-mountable appliance, is priced at $8,495 (U. S. List Price). The Dominion KX132, a 1U appliance, is priced at $3,795 (U. S. List Price).
