The Journal of Minimum Intervention in Dentistry is an international online journal, with the aim to promote the electronic publication and indexing of clinical case reports in the field of Minimum Intervention (MI) in dentistry.

Full articles are freely accessible online without any need for subscription or registration and can be downloaded in PDF or HTML: http://www. midentistry. com/journal. html (http://www. midentistry. com/journal. html)

The content of all articles is electronically indexed and can be searched using miseeq-database: http://www. midentistry. com/miseeq. html (http://www. midentistry. com/miseeq. html)

The 1st issue has been recently launched http://www. midentistry. com/vol1iss1.html (http://www. midentistry. com/vol1iss1.html) and is introduced during the Pan European Federation's IADR meeting in London on the 12th of September 2008. A Spanish version of the JMID is launched at the IADR meeting in Lima, Peru on the 19th of September 2008.

The new journal publishes articles in English, Portuguese, Spanish and Chinese language on the MI topics of oral disease risk assessment, early diagnosis and minimally-invasive treatment.

The journal wishes to encourage manuscript submissions by first time authors, aspiring young academics as well as the submission of to-date unpublished clinical observations, especially by general dental practitioners. Authors are welcome to submit their manuscripts to: midentistry@global. co. za

Peer-review is conducted to the extent of strict adherence by authors to the following criteria: the study being a clinical case report related to MI; adherence to stated reporting guidelines; acceptable scientific grammar and syntax; proof of ethical clearance.

MI is a philosophy of professional care, concerned with risk, earliest detection and earliest possible treatment of disease on micro (molecular) levels, followed by the most minimal invasive and patient friendly options to repair irreversible damages caused by such disease. MI aims to empower patients (through information, skills and motivation) to be in charge of their own oral health, so that they only require minimal intervention from the dental profession.
