Tampa, FL (PRWEB) April 9, 2004

During a time of major corporate cutbacks and the outsourcing of American Jobs to foreign shores, there is a new breeze blowing through the American business community… It is the Breeze of self determination and financial independence. This wind of change is based on good old-fashioned American work ethics, ingenuity and the ‘Can Do’ spirit that has made America a global leader in business trends and commerce.

Over the past 20-30 years the face of the American workforce has undergone rapid change. Job transition has no longer become an elective career choice, but rather a mandatory condition for the American worker faced with economic flux and survival. Many have grown tired of the uncertainty of today’s job market and are actively seeking an alternative to the often ‘Thankless Corporate Career Grind’.

Key Business Solutions has been formed for those who are ready to make that final career change – the change that puts you in the driver’s seat as the master of your own destiny. Key Business Solutions is a new company offering a business opportunity with multiple sources of income/revenue, in an industry rapidly growing with increased demand, due to a number of new government regulations.

Key Business Solutions offers a proprietary turnkey system for starting and running a business, supported by unique services with a secure data center for processing medical claims for Health Care Providers.

What sets Key Business Solutions apart from other Business Opportunities?

*Different in that we offer ‘test drives’ for a year with a full money back refund if our proven business strategies and formulas for success are not effective...

*We have secured the services of some of the top people in the industry...

*Supported by the best, up to date and user friendly software available...

We are also a business with a heart – with a sincere desire to give back to the local and national business communities. Therefore, we will soon be announcing a major corporate promotional alliance with one of the leading Children’s based Charitable Organizations in the country. Key Business Solutions will support this organization with a proactive contribution and recruitment program. Details to be announced soon!

“I started a medical reimbursement business in 1997 and it has grown to have two offices and process claims for 41 different providers. As I grew my business, I realized there was a need for more services that could be provided. Many of the services would be out of the reach of a single billing company. This is one of the reasons that I wanted to be involved in a business opportunity for Medical Reimbursement Companies. The concept would be to provide big company services through locally owned and run businesses. This concept should provide the greatest array of services, with the maximum client interaction.” Garret Van Seters – CEO Key Business Solutions, Inc.

Key Business Solutions – “We turn adversity into your Opportunity – Helping make your dreams of financial independence into a reality!”

Evidence-based Compendium on Minimum Intervention Dentistry (MI) Available Now for Dental Academics and Practitioners

A comprehensive scientific literature review concerning Minimal Intervention Dentistry (MI) is now available by four dental schools in Brasilia, Johannesburg and Sao Paulo. The MI Compendium provides an evidence base for MI and aims to assist in the development of evidence based undergraduate MI courses for dental students in the near future.

(PRWEB) February 14, 2006

Dental academics and practitioners from four dental schools in Brasilia, Johannesburg and Sao Paulo have searched 11 main databases (including Cochrane Library, PubMed, Lilacs) and reviewed English, German, Portuguese and Spanish articles relevant to over 25 individual MI concepts. The review is now available as ‘MI Compendium’ in eBook format (PDF) and can be downloaded online: http://www. midentistry. com/academia. html (http://www. midentistry. com/academia. html)

Title: ‘Minimum Intervention (MI): A new approach in Dentistry -

Evidence based Compendium’

With Foreword by Martin Tyas

ISBN 0-620-34080-0

135 Pages – Price: USD 28.65

The MI Compendium provides a comprehensive evidence base for MI and aims to assist in evidence-based undergraduate MI teaching for dental students. It is written as quick - guide and reference and has been developed with focus on the repeatability of its results by others. Its reviewed MI topics include:

Saliva based caries risk assessment, Diagnodent, Chlorhexidine, Dental Chewing Gum, Tooth Mousse, GIC Fissure sealing, Carisolv, ART vs Amalgam, The Wand, GIC antibacterial action, QLF, Dental Microscope for caries diagnosis, Triclosan, Ozone, Diammine silver fluoride, GIC hypermineralisation /remineralisation, Air abrasion, Sono-abrasion, Laser treatment, Sandwich technique, Bacteria (SM, LB) tests-, Sugar intake - Past caries experience for caries risk prediction

MI is a philosophy of professional care, concerned with Risk, Earliest detection and Earliest possible treatment of disease on micro (molecular) levels, followed by the most minimal invasive and patient friendly options to repair irreversible damages caused by such disease. MI aims to empower patients (through information, skills and motivation) to be in charge of their own oral health, so that they only require minimal intervention from the dental profession.

Evidence-based dentistry aims to encourage dentists to make clinical decisions based on good evidence used in conjunction with their clinical expertise. The Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine, Oxford has provided well-accepted guidelines on how to rate the quality and strength of published papers that deal with interventions for therapy, diagnosis or prognosis. Much of these principles have been adopted for use in the MI Compendium.

These eight international development goals, adopted by United Nations member countries, aim to improve the social and economic conditions in the world’s poorest countries.

Online voters will help select the film contest finalists and a celebrity panel of judges will select the winners. The judges’ panel includes:

“There are countless beacons of success in eradicating poverty, hunger, and disease in the developing world but those stories rarely get told,” said Danny Glover, actor, humanitarian and Link TV Board Member. “We know that stories have the power to change the world for the better and these films will allow us to clearly show and share the meaningful progress that is happening on a daily basis.”

ViewChange. org, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, is calling on professional and amateur filmmakers to submit short videos that will be used to raise awareness, inspire action, and accelerate the worldwide movement to spur social development and poverty reduction in the poorest nations around the globe. Entrants will be required to submit films of five minutes or less, in one of six categories, reflecting the progress being made in achieving the Millennium Development Goals. In addition to the Grand Prize, a winner will be selected in each category and will receive a $5,000 prize. The categories include:

Sustainability: Solutions that last. Growth and development with a plan. Programs that will continue when the foreign aid ends.  Innovation: New solutions to old problems. Creative ideas for otherwise stagnant or persistent issues. Emerging technologies in health, agriculture, education, and environmental sustainability.  Overcoming Conflict: Stories of success in the face of conflict—anything from cultural barriers to war or oppression. Grassroots efforts to overcome overwhelming obstacles.  Empowerment: Stories of initiative, of people improving their own lives and the lives of those like them. Transcending barriers like gender.  Leadership & Governance: Steps forward in accountability, freedom, or citizen engagement in government. Advances in civil/human rights; progress toward reforming broken systems.  Local/Global Partnerships: Teamwork between on-the-ground efforts and governments, NGOs, social entrepreneurs, and private initiatives.

In addition to cash prizes, the videos of winners and finalists in the film contest will be broadcast nationally on Link TV and other television channels worldwide. The short films will also be available for high-quality streaming at ViewChange. org. The contest launches April 30. Final film submissions are due August 31, with voting beginning September 1 and closing September 15. The online voting community will determine two of the five finalists; Link TV will select the other three. The celebrity panel of judges will review only the finalists’ entries (six categories, five finalists in each category) and choose Category Winners and the Grand Prize Winner. Finalists will be announced in mid-September. Winners will be announced in mid-October. Contestants can upload their short film submissions at: ViewChangeFilmContest. org (http://viewchangefilmcontest. org/) and download the film contest rules and regulations here: http://www. linktv. org/viewchangefilmcontest/about/rules (http://www. linktv. org/viewchangefilmcontest/about/rules).

Link TV is launching ViewChange. org—a new multimedia website that uses the power of stories to improve the lives of people in developing countries. The site is expected to go live at the end of October. Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the site combines powerful video stories with the latest articles, blogs, and actions and makes them easily shared. ViewChange. org uses new semantic technology to pinpoint the most relevant information when you need it, with unrivaled search accuracy. Users will save time and increase impact, by using the rich media to change attitudes and inspire citizens to action.

Online Lectures Taught by Pioneering Hair Transplant Surgeon

Online Lectures Taught by Pioneering Hair Transplant Surgeon

Robert M. Bernstein, M. D., Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Columbia University, is making his audio/video lectures on Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation available as free internet downloads.

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 20, 2006

Online slide presentations with audio commentary, are helping to make our understanding of surgical hair transplantation procedures clearer. Dr. Bernstein, a renown teacher, lecturer and surgeon, is bringing his presentations on state-of-the-art hair restoration techniques directly to students and patients.

As founder of Bernstein Medical - Center for Hair Restoration (http://www. BernsteinMedical. com), Dr. Bernstein has conducted presentations on his innovative hair transplantation techniques at medical conferences around the world. In Barcelona, Washington D. C., Vancouver, and Sydney, healthcare participants have learned about the nuances of hair transplant surgery from one of the pioneers of the current standard in surgical hair restoration.

“It has been an honor to be invited to speak to organizations of which I have such great respect,” Dr. Bernstein said from his Manhattan facility. “Though I enjoy sharing ideas with physicians face-to-face, it is gratifying that we can reach so many people through the web and educate the lay community as well as professionals. We feel that there is still a big disconnect with the general public about where we are right now in regards to the vast improvements in surgical hair restoration that have been made over the past ten years.”

The online lectures include an historical background of old hair transplant techniques - the old “plugs” and “cornrows” - to the current vastly refined procedure of Follicular Unit Transplantation. Users can see images of new and outdated tools, visuals that illustrate the newest techniques and, actual patient photos. A running commentary by one of the emanate authorities on the subject makes this often confusing subject, clear.

As the most widely published author on the subject of Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation, with over fifty articles, editorial reviews, books and textbook chapters, Dr. Bernstein’s landmark scientific papers are considered to be seminal works in the field of hair replacement surgery.

Dr. Bernstein is founder of Bernstein Medical – Center for Hair Restoration in New York. His contributions to the field of hair transplantation and devotion to patient care have earned him the honor of "Surgeon of the Month" in Hair Transplant Forum International, Connolly Guide’s “America’s Top Doctors,” and New York Magazine's "Best Doctors” from 2000 through 2006.

If you would like more information about this topic, or to schedule an interview with Dr. Bernstein, please call Doug at (201) 585-1115 or visit http://www. BernsteinMedical. com.

NPA Sponsors 21st Annual Back-to-School Head Lice Prevention Campaign: The All Out Comb Out™

NPA Sponsors 21st Annual Back-to-School Head Lice Prevention Campaign: The All Out Comb Out™

Each year, the National Pediculosis Association (NPA) sponsors the All Out Comb Out-- NPA's National Head Lice Prevention Campaign for back-to-school. What is the NPAÂ’s message? Learn what to look for, and check the children for head lice and nits regularly. Early detection with thorough manual removal of lice and nits is the best approach given that there is no totally safe and effective chemical treatment available.

Needham Heights, MA (PRWEB) September 1, 2005

Each year the National Pediculosis Association (NPA) sponsors the National Head Lice Prevention Campaign for back-to-school. The NPA wants parents to learn what to look for and understand the importance of checking their children for head lice and nits (lice eggs) regularly.

Early detection with thorough manual removal of lice and nits is the best approach to managing these blood-sucking human parasites, especially since there is no totally safe and effective chemical treatment available.

What is the purpose of the All Out Comb Out? The goal of the campaign is to remind communities that Pediculosis (head lice) is a communicable disease affecting children across the nation. The NPA encourages everyone to be proactive and preventive, emphasizing the importance of early intervention and how it works to protect children from unnecessary exposure to potentially harmful pesticide shampoos and sprays.

Helpful information about this important public health issue is available at www. headlice. org along with answers to frequently asked questions and the availability of non-chemical treatment alternatives. Because knowing what to look for is key, the NPA offers parents and school officials a Free Critter Card™ which provides images of lice as one would expect to see them along with pictures to help differentiate nits from normal hair debris such as dandruff. http://www. headlice. org/special/critcard. htm (http://www. headlice. org/special/critcard. htm)

Why kick off the campaign in September? Back-to-school signals a new beginning -- an excellent time to educate parents, children and the community about head lice. Parents need to understand the communicability of head lice before outbreaks occur, how to make an accurate identification and how to remove head lice and nits (eggs) from their children in the safest and most effective way.

Armed with this knowledge, parents will avoid the dreaded call from school when someone else was first to notice their child was infested. Families and classmates will avoid the disruption that occurs when there is no public health prevention standard in place.

School systems, child care centers, hospital clinics, health departments, camps, professional organizations, hair salons, HMOs, school nurses, parents, physicians, pharmacists and thousands of individuals work cooperatively to keep head lice prevention going strong each September and every month thereafter.

Headlice. org is the #1 website on this important public health issue. It is the 24/7 one stop educational resource. The website has free downloads for family and community education, age appropriate resources and games for children in the area for kids, e-cards and photographic images of lice and nits along with access to information on the LiceMeister Comb -- the medical device known as the gold standard in combing tools -- as valuable for screening as for removing lice and nits. The website also provides teaching videos showing how to comb. http://www. headlice. org/video/index. htm (http://www. headlice. org/video/index. htm)

NPA says preparedness can't be emphasized enough. There is no need for panic or for children to miss school when parents are informed about the benefits of early detection and the fact that the lice are resisant to the majority of shampoo treatents. Parents who screen regularly can send their children to school lice and nit free: Communities that promote head lice prevention programs demonstrate a commitment to family health and wellness.

While every month is head lice prevention month, September is the month to kick off the campaign that lasts throughout the year!

"Because it is not about lice, it’s about kids™"

Santa Ana, CA (PRWEB) March 9, 2010

Nine innovative healthcare companies have been named Finalists and will vie to win three 2010 Innovations in HealthcareSM ABBY Awards at the 12th Annual Innovations in HealthcareSM Awards Event, (http://www. abl. org/IIH2010.htm) on April 28, 2010, hosted by the Adaptive Business Leaders (ABL) Organization. These awards honor companies which have proven ways to lower the cost of providing quality healthcare through their innovative approaches to the delivery of healthcare, or medical or information/telecommunications technology.

The nine Award Finalists (listed below) – three each in three categories -- have demonstrated that they are: innovative; approved for use in the U. S. marketplace; and have clinical and financial metrics that prove their product or service reduces the cost of providing quality healthcare.

These ABBY Award Finalists were selected from dozens of nominees by a peer selection committee. ABBY Award Winners will be selected via secret ballot by ABL Members, after viewing presentations at the April 28th Innovations in HealthcareSM Awards Event (http://www. abl. org/IIH2010.htm) made by the CEO or senior division executive representing each Finalist company. Attendance is open to ABL Members and their guests, as well as non-Member senior executives of healthcare providers and payers, therapeutic, diagnostic, medical device and healthcare information and services firms.

Also at the Event, Debra Reisenthel, CEO of Novasys Medical Inc., will receive ABL’s 2010 “Leadership in Innovation” Award and make the Keynote presentation. She is being honored for leading her company to exceptional success in the women’s healthcare market. Read more about it here (http://www. abl. org/PressReleases/030210_IIH2010_Reisenthel. html).

Now in its 12th year, ABL’s Innovations in HealthcareSM Awards Event recognizes organizations that have demonstrated transformative advances in enabling quality healthcare at a lower cost, resulting in decreased numbers of uninsured, and engaging healthcare consumers more actively in their care and health status. Details about the Innovations in HealthcareSM Awards Event can be found at www. abl. org/IIH2010.htm (http://www. abl. org/IIH2010.htm).

Finalists in the Innovative Approaches to the Delivery of Healthcare category are:

Torrance, CA’s HealthCare Partners who, together with California Hospital Medical Center and local FQHCs, have developed a hospitalist program that has significantly improved the management of patient flow, quality of care medically indigent patients receive, and expediency with which patient care is provided. Since December 2008, there have been dramatic decreases in readmission rates for heart failure and acute care patients.

Westlake Village, CA’s Specialists On Call provides hospitals nationwide with immediate 24/7 access to expert emergency-trained neurologists via telemedicine, having performed over 10,000 such consultations in less than five years – the majority for stroke patients. Considering that time lost is brain lost in most neurologic emergencies, timely and appropriate care is paramount, or patients faced far worse outcomes, complications, and longer lengths of stay.

Austin, TX’s WhiteGlove House Call Health is a membership-based primary healthcare provider whose services are available to members in their home or workplace, 365 days a year, from 8 a. m. to 8 p. m. In addition to a reasonable annual membership fee, members pay a flat $35 fee per house call, which includes medical care, generic prescription medications, over-the-counter remedies, foods and beverages.

Finalists in the “Innovations in Healthcare Information Technology and Telecommunications Technology” category are:

San Diego, CA’s A-Life Medical’s Actus® 6.0 product is a web-based, natural language, “intelligent assistant” to the health information workflow within physician practices, improving both the productivity and accuracy of the medical coding and billing process and correctly representing the procedures – in words (using standard terminology) and graphics – in electronic patient records.

Toronto, Ontario, Canada’s Diversinet Corporation’s AllOne Mobile solution allows healthcare organizations to securely extend their reach to patients on their smart phones. The software auto-detects what type of mobile device the patient has and generates the right download package automatically; the user can access their personal health records and communications by entering a PIN number; and all communications are double encrypted for security.

Princeton, NJ’s PeriGen’s clinical decision support system addresses preventable medical errors in hospital obstetrics departments. The technology integrates patient information streaming from IT systems within the hospital, with the patient’s history and vitals, to provide clinicians with constant updates on their patient’s changing condition. The system continually evaluates the patient’s condition against 6,500 best practices, resulting in better patient outcomes.

Finalists in the “Innovations in Medical/BioTechnology” category are:

Menlo Park, CA’s Acclarent’s Balloon Sinuplasty™ devices provide physicians with the tools to perform minimally invasive sinus surgery through the natural opening of the nose, providing the ability to access the sinuses with fewer traumas without removing tissue and bone, resulting in rapid symptom relief and reduced post-operative pain and discomfort for patients.

Port Washington, NY’s Advanced Cardiac Scan‘s Multifunction Cardio Gram is a non-invasive, clinically proven methodology to detect Coronary Artery Disease. This risk-, stress - and radiation-free test is able to detect myocardial ischemia more accurately and at earlier stages than traditional methods. It can be performed in physician offices, EDs, urgent cares and SNFs. It takes only 82 seconds for the test and results are ready in less than 10 minutes.

Irvine, CA’s VQ OrthoCare’s BioniCare Knee System is a non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical, non-surgical treatment option for osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee. It delivers a pulsed electrical signal to the knee through two electrodes held in place on the inside of a joint unloading brace, developed specifically to treat OA and mimics the naturally occurring signal present in a healthy knee joint. It’s been a life-changing treatment option for 50,000+ U. S. patients.

New York, NY (PRWEB March 12, 2008 -- When the urge to adopt strikes, few potential pet parents consider the costs of pet ownership, which can often be far greater (and run longer) than they anticipated. The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today released its updated guide to pet costs to help new pet parents plan and budget for their futures. They are available at http://www. aspca. org/petcarecosts.

"The joys of owning a cat or dog are infinite," says ASPCA President and CEO Ed Sayres. "In order to provide a loving and safe home for our pets, however, we must ensure that our budgets can accommodate their needs."

A large dog, for example, will likely require an average yearly food allowance of $225, while a bird’s diet is sparse in comparison, requiring an outlay of only $75 per year. Rabbits and guinea pigs love fresh bedding, which totals a whopping $415 per year, versus a fastidious feline, whose litter costs a modest yearly average of $165.

Recurring medical expenses such as yearly exams and vaccinations range in price from $210 to $265 for dogs and $160 for cats. Pet insurance coverage (including ASPCA Pet Health Insurance) varies, but some policies will cover spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and heartworm medication. Rates for dogs clock in at an average of $225, while healthy cat owners can find insurance coverage for approximately $175 per year.

In return for the gift of companionship, pet parents may choose to spoil their new kin with toys and treats. Humble creatures like fish have little need for extra stimulation, but a pet guinea pig could consume $30 annually in toys and treats. Cat and dog parents can expect to spend $25 to $75 per year on their furry friends’ goodies.

The ASPCA suggests examining your budget, much as you would consider your lifestyle and needs, when adopting a pet. If you live modestly, consider adopting a pet that won’t strain your wallet. Another alternative is fostering a pet or volunteering at your local animal shelter to get your furry fix.

For more information on adopting the right pet for you and your budget, please visit http://www. aspca. org/petcarecosts.

Endoscopic Facelifts: Not the "Standard" in Facial Rejuvenation

Endoscopic Facelifts: Not the "Standard" in Facial Rejuvenation

The endoscopic facelift is a plastic surgery procedure that is ideal for patients who want an effective way to reduce pain, achieve quick results, look younger and healthier.

Manchester, VT (PRWEB) March 14, 2006

Putting your best face forward has never been easier, as revolutionary new advances in cosmetic surgery techniques have made facial enhancement a reality for millions of Americans. An endoscopic facelift is an effective way to improve your looks and boost your self-esteem.

Because endoscopic facelifts use the most advanced surgical techniques and procedures, many patients are amazed at the quick results and the reduced pain. In fact, some people who undergo "Facial Rejuvenation" return to their normal activities within a few days, often with less of the telltale bruising and swelling commonly found in older facelifts.

Renowned Manchester, Vermont plastic surgeon (http://www. r4md. com) David Metzner, M. D. is an avid champion of the procedure and utilizes years of endoscopic facelift experience to achieve the enhancements that each individual patient desires - whether subtle or dramatic.

"I've always considered it essential that every procedure I offer to patients must provide real results that look natural and that last," Dr. Metzner notes. "If it can be performed without leaving behind noticeable tell-tale signs, what I call 'stealth surgery', so much the better."

An endoscopic facelift (http://www. r4md. com) is an ideal option for people who want to look younger and healthier. Dr. Metzner makes several small and inconspicuous incisions (usually hidden behind the hairline) and inserts a special thin camera called an endoscope under the skin.

By looking at a special monitor connected to the camera, the tissues that give your face its structure and shape are lifted and tightened. This procedure is usually performed under general anesthetic administered by specially qualified anesthesiologists, reducing the necessity of an overnight hospital stay.

Facial Rejuvenation has several advantages over traditional facelifts. First, any scars are small and very well camouflaged. Secondly, no hair or scalp are removed. Also, endoscopic facelifts look more natural and significantly reduce unpleasant recovery factors such as pain, swelling, bleeding, bruising, and infection. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the effects of Facial Rejuvenation endoscopic facelifts tend to last longer than a standard facelift (http://www. r4md. com).

The Center for CosMedic Rejuvenation is an elegant setting for discriminating clients to enjoy the myriad benefits of cosmetic enhancement. A licensed aesthetician stands by after the procedure to advise the patient on proper post-op skincare and makeup, and the specialty concierge service can arrange a private, post-surgery recovery getaway for healing and relaxation for patients in some of the finest hotels and inns of Manchester, Vermont.

"I understand the unique needs and expectations of the cosmetic surgery patient," explains Dr. Metzner. "We set up the Center to fulfill those needs and expectations, while insuring privacy, confidentiality, and value without sacrifice in quality," he adds. The center has proudly served clients throughout Boston, Springfield, The Berkshires in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Albany, NY, and Vermont and other areas around New England.

Dr. David Metzner (http://www. r4md. com) is certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties as an expert in Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology. He has been an instructor at the prestigious Harvard Medical School and is one of America's leading experts in Facial Rejuvenation.

Minnesota Massage Pioneer Sister Rosalind Gefre Announces New Family Caregiver Programs to Relieve Caregiver Burden

Minnesota Massage Pioneer Sister Rosalind Gefre Announces New Family Caregiver Programs to Relieve Caregiver Burden

Minnesota-based massage pioneer Sister Rosalind Gefre has launched Sister Rosalind's Family Caregiver Programs to relieve "caregiver burden" for family caregivers of the chronically ill. These programs will include weekend retreats featuring massage, aromatherapy, education and support. Over 50 million people now provide care for a family member or friend during any given year, and that number is expected to grow. The stress from caregiving has resulted in higher rates of depression, divorce and death among caregivers.

St. Paul, MN (PRWEB) August 23, 2007

Minnesota-based massage pioneer Sister Rosalind Gefre has announced the launching of her new programs to relieve "caregiver burden" for family caregivers.

Sister Rosalind's Family Caregiver Programs will feature massage, aromatherapy, relaxation and education during weekend retreats in a peaceful natural setting. Guest speakers will give presentations about caregiving issues and advice about self-care. There will also be the opportunity for spiritual fellowship and group discussion.

Caregivers may choose from two separate retreats to be held in Fall 2007, from Friday through Sunday, either October 12-14 or November 30 - December 2. Both retreats, which are open to the public, will take place at the Riverwood Conference Center in Monticello, Minnesota, located 35 minutes from downtown Minneapolis. Other retreats are also planned for the future.

Since 1983, Sister Rosalind has been serving the community with therapeutic massage through her "Massage Ministry". In the same spirit of serving the community, she is now turning her focus to the increasing number of family caregivers who are undergoing extraordinary stress from the competing demands of work, family and caregiving. This stress has resulted in emotional, physical and financial hardships and higher rates of depression, divorce and death among caregivers.

According to the Center for Disease Control estimates, 90 million Americans live with chronic illness. The National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion states that at least 25 million people have chronic, disabling conditions. The National Family Caregivers Association reports that more than 50 million people provide care for a chronically ill, disabled or aged family member or friend during any given year. And John Hopkins University research predicts by the year 2030, nearly 150 million Americans will have some type of chronic illness.

For over two decades Sister Rosalind and her massage students and therapists have generously donated tens of thousands of hours of free massage therapy to the community. Sister Rosalind has built a large massage ministry through her Sister Rosalind's Schools and Clinics of Massage - (www. sisterrosalind. org) - with five professional schools and seven wellness centers and clinics in Minnesota and North Dakota. To date, more than 10,000 people have attended schools bearing her name. Her biography, "Hands That Touch, Hands That Heal", (available at Amazon. com) documents her remarkable contribution to the popularization of massage in the past 20 years, in spite of formidable obstacles.

Sister Rosalind says:

"It has been my dream for many years to create programs where people can experience the healing of the body and mind in a beautiful and peaceful natural setting. Sister Rosalind Caregiver Programs are dedicated to supporting caregivers of those with chronic illness in a place where people can enjoy the healing power of nature and seek regeneration of body and soul."

For more information, including the cost of attending the retreats, visit the Web site at www. caregiverprograms. org. Inquiries are welcome about possible scholarship funds to attend the retreats, as well as possible reimbursement for respite care through cooperating nonprofits such as the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Minnesota. To volunteer and/ or to make a tax-deductible contribution to help support a family caregiver to attend a retreat, contact Peter Fahnlander at Sister Rosalind Schools and Clinics of Massage at 651-554-3013.

ATLPlaytime of Georgia Launches Therapist's Resource Site

ATLPlaytime of Georgia Launches Therapist's Resource Site

New sponsored Therapist's Community Site is dedicated to providing information exchange for parents and professionals.

Marietta, GA (PRWEB) January 29, 2007

ATLPlaytime today formally announced the launch of its dedicated Therapists Resource site.

Intended for professional therapists and parents alike, the new on-line informational exchange can be reached at www. ChildTherapyResources. com. Forums are provided there for therapists involved in rehabilitation and services to children as well as adults in all countries.

"These kinds of forums and informational exchanges are the 'better-side' of what the internet revolution is all about." said Barry Chickini, the program's sponsor. "Our intent is to promote informational exchanges on ideas, techniques, and methodologies among therapists. Parents and non-professionals alike can also subscribe and participate."

By promoting the discussion of specific techniques involving readily available retail products at affordable prices, the site hopes to put therapy techniques in the hands of everyone.

The site primary aim is that therapists, wherever he or she may be, can read what their colleagues are doing and can themselves take advantage of not only new ideas and techniques but also be able learn how to use new and inexpensive products in their practice. This will enable them to 'bring it home' to their own patients.

Through a program started earlier this year, licensed therapists may obtain free products in exchange for their sharing their methodologies. The complete details of that program are also available on the Child Therapy Resources site.

Chickini acknowledged that many issues face the therapist today from frustrations with government regulation to continual ongoing educational demands. This is on top of the daily issues with the healthcare system in general and concern for their patients. "I have yet to meet a therapist who was in it for the money," said Chickini, "These people are extremely dedicated to their science and their art. Most on their minds are their patients and their progress. We would like to do something for them to make it just a bit easier."

The site is open to everyone for participation. "We realize that therapist's are a pretty diverse group with specializations in both Physical and Mental disciplines, " said Barry Chickini, "so we wanted to make sure everyone has input. Even Clinics and Hospital Departments can benefit. But it's no secret that child therapy has a special place for us."

Private-Public Partnership is the Key to Driving Demand in the Global Vaccines Markets

Private-Public Partnership is the Key to Driving Demand in the Global Vaccines Markets

New analysis from Frost & Sullivan (http://www. pharma. frost. com), Global Vaccines Markets, reveals that vaccines markets earned revenue of $ 9,925.5 million in 2005 and estimates to reach $20,019.1 million in 2012.

Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) March 5, 2006

There is a huge unmet need in emerging markets, which can been catered to only with a focused approach, driven by support from the leading vaccine manufacturers and increased role of private-public partnerships.

New analysis from Frost & Sullivan (http://www. pharma. frost. com (http://www. pharma. frost. com)), Global Vaccines Markets, reveals that vaccines markets earned revenue of $ 9,925.5 million in 2005 and estimates to reach $20,019.1 million in 2012.

If interested in a virtual brochure, which provides manufacturers, end users and other industry participants an overview of the latest analysis of the Global Vaccines Markets, then send an email to Melina Trevino, Corporate Communications at melina. trevino @ frost. com with your full name, company name, title, telephone number, fax number and email. Upon receipt of the above information, an overview will be sent to you by e-mail.

"There is a huge shortfall in manufacturing capacity of vaccine manufacturers largely because of the deadlock between governments and vaccine manufacturers. Significant addition to manufacturing capacity is urgently needed to continue immunization programs, especially with new and better vaccines expected to be launched," notes Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Barath Shankar.

The launch of new vaccines against rotavirus and HPV expects to support the next phase of accelerated growth of the vaccines in developed markets. However, the success of these products in rest of world markets would determine the long-term growth of the vaccines market.

The lack of basic healthcare infrastructure in emerging economies is a major challenge that is receiving increased attention from government and aid agencies. The emergence of private-public partnerships is expected to overcome the hurdles posed by these shortcomings.

"The top five vaccine manufacturers account for 85.3 percent of vaccine revenues globally in 2005. This is due to the large share of revenues from developed markets that account for 79.5 percent of the global vaccine revenues," explains Barath Shankar. "The emerging markets have a large untapped potential that is assisted aid agencies and public-private partnerships."

Increased support from the big-five vaccine manufacturers is needed to ensure growth of vaccines in these markets. The launch of vaccines that have been successful in developed markets and are expensive to manufacture should be launched in emerging markets, with support from regional vaccine manufacturers.

Global Vaccines Markets, a part of the pharmaceuticals and biotechnology subscription service, provides an overview and outlook for the market. This study has been segmented across North America, Europe and Rest of World. This research includes detailed market opportunities and industry trends that have been evaluated following extensive interviews with market participants. Interviews are available to the press.

Frost & Sullivan, a global growth consulting company, has been partnering with clients to support the development of innovative strategies for more than 40 years. The company's industry expertise integrates growth consulting, growth partnership services, and corporate management training to identify and develop opportunities. Frost & Sullivan serves an extensive clientele that includes Global 1000 companies, emerging companies, and the investment community by providing comprehensive industry coverage that reflects a unique global perspective and combines ongoing analysis of markets, technologies, econometrics, and demographics. Utah Health Insurance Reform vs. Federal Health Care Reform: BenefitsManager. net Offers In-Depth Analysis

Utah Health Insurance Reform vs. Federal Health Care Reform: BenefitsManager. net Offers In-Depth Analysis

Utah health insurance reform affects all of Utah from residents to carriers alike. BenefitsManager. net gives an in-depth analysis of state health reform efforts vs. federal health care reform.

Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) July 14, 2009

Utah health insurance reform affects all of Utah from residents to carriers alike. Select Health, Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield and Humana form a Utah Health Exchange portal to share risk under watchful government eye. BenefitsManager. net gives an in-depth analysis of state health reform efforts vs. federal health care reform.

Insurance reform + medical provider reform = health care reform, right? Utah health insurance (http://www. benefitsmanager. net) reform has been center focus for the state, UAHU and private insurance carriers over the past 24 months. Mike Oliphant (UAHU board webmaster and technical advisor) runs a small Utah based health insurance website BenefitsManager. net. Mike's viewpoint provides a unique analysis which comes from being a "fly on the wall" observer in countless state session and insurance meetings. "Utah has been thrust into a state insurance reform pressure cooker which isn't necessarily negative where I am an insurer, insured and patient". Several interesting changes took place with H. B. 188 passage earlier this year which seems all too familiar to the ongoing federal health care reform attempt under Obama's administration. The spirit of the bill allows private Utah market place remedies. It essentially guarantees a Utah health insurance (http://www. benefitsmanager. net) carrier a "no loss" or "no gain" premise over competing carriers that operate within the "Utah Health Exchange" portal (http://www. utahhealthplans. info). On the surface it would seem unattractive to a carrier's consideration (voluntary at this point). But you have to understand the carriers' goal is to cover their administration fees and maintain a 3% profit. The Utah Health Exchange reform model claims this can be accomplished now by legislation and the watchful eye of the state's risk adjuster board. The medical claim risks are essentially shared equally among the participating carriers such as Humana (http://www. benefitsmanager. net/Humana-One. htm) and SelectHealth (http://www. benefitsmanager. net/SelectHealth. html). Therefore, the carriers can focus on administration efficiencies more so than competition over a fluctuating market share. Insurance carriers such as SelectHealth have efficiencies and risk management experience polished by long tested actuarial tables with health statistics and claim trends. Is it a bad idea to share that experience with a national carrier such as Humana? Would it surprise anyone to know that maternity NICU and anti-depressants represent the highest utilization in health insurance costs for medical and pharmacy in Utah? Compare this to Texas which suffers from abnormally high levels of diabetes and liver disease per capita.

The other half of the "health care reform equation" is medical provider and billing practices. The state claims this is on the agenda. It is popular belief among Utah legislators that reform stops with the insurance carrier. However, how can the insurance carrier continue to bear the risk and re-distribution of health insurance premiums back out the door in claims without provider billing reform? Add to this obstacle a continuing shrinkage of the insured populace. Obama's administration proposes mandatory participation in a health insurance policy by employers of all sizes, self employed and unemployed populace. The logic being to shore up the unhealthy with healthy premium. When analyzing the Massachusetts's system, you actually pay a penalty if you have no proof of coverage. The benefit level and health insurance price is nowhere close when you compare Utah health insurance quotes (http://www. benefitsmanager. net) or dental insurance quotes found at http://www. dentalinsuranceutah. net (http://www. dentalinsuranceutah. net). Utah premium is easily half. This insight comes from a Utah health insurance agent (http://www. benefitsmanager. net/utah-health-agent-about-us. htm) whom often interacts with employers and residents looking for affordable coverage, making sure claims are paid correctly, implementation and explanation of the many policy procedures and putting a complex SelectHealth insurance language in understandable terms. Yet legislators are slow to recognize the value of agents which negotiate a annual savings in employer's premiums of around 5%

With the latest announcement of hospitals agreeing to contribute $155 billion, where are the costs going to be shifted for this donation? In Utah, studies conducted by BenefitsManager. net revealed that cost shifting already exists in the ER. There is apparent lack of legislators in Utah and on the federal level proposing TORT REFORM. To push liability insurance premiums down that absorb as much as 15% in expenses with most medical providers is significant. Take 15% off total medical expenditures in US and you will see savings in the trillions.

If we go down the path of nationalized health care reform, will we at some point be forced to address usage and ration? Will we have to define when to refuse further care for patients receiving critical illness treatments, intensive care unit, disease management, neonatal intensive-care unit for? SelectHealth (http://www. benefitsmanager. net) documents that the single most expensive bills are NICU for newborns and seniors in acute / intensive care / pre-hospice.

Without TORT REFORM, medical provider costs will never drop. Liability insurance costs as well as general insurance costs are approaching nearly half of the operating expenses for specialty care physicians, units and facilities. Utah Humana market director, Earl Hurst, states that their costs of medical liability and defensive medicine accounts for nearly 10 cents out of every premium dollar collected. Compare that to Humana's reported pharmaceutical claims of 15 cents out of every premium dollar collected. Or better yet, 21 cents out of every premium dollar collected is paid back to physicians for physician treatments.

To be diagnosed with an illness can be bewildering and frightening, especially if there is no-one around to tell you the things you really want to know. ‘How is this illness going to change my life?’ ‘How will it affect my relationship with my family, friends and colleagues?’ ‘What will it be like having this operation or taking these drugs?’ ‘Will I still be able to do the things I used to do?’
